Anyway since this is a investing forum might as well ask this question here. Have a friend who is a Buddhist and he refused to be vested in sheng siong shares due to the fact that sheng siong sell live fishes and prawns. What's your thoughts on this?

Hats off to your friend ! Reminds me of the Norwegian SWF that does not invest in defence related stocks (that includes ST Eng).

I always look for consistency when people start talking about religion.

If the shares are for investing then one is considered a stakeholder in the biz venture in which he will reap the appropriate karma for that biz.

How much one want to accept and put into the Buddha's teachings in his daily life depends on one's own realisation. To some it might look 'strict' but to the individual it might be perfectly normal.

He's one of the more devout Buddhist. If it weren't a hassle to find vegan food, he would have definitely become a vegan.

Anyway just another thought. What happens if I am vested in a reits which rents the space to a supermarket which carries out the same activity? Just for discussion purposes.
