1) Try NOT to LOSE money!
2) Do NOT SELL in BEAR, BUY-BUY-BUY! invest in managements/companies that does the same!
3) CASH in hand is KING in BEAR!
4) In BULL, SELL-SELL-SELL!

After 1 year and half, my thought about gold has changed greatly. Now I hold the thought that in the longer term, the worth of gold will be 0. In modern economy system, there is no longer a position for gold to be a currency.

In 2014, we might see economics problems in euro and china (there goes our cpf due to investment in chinese banks) and that might see a strong surge in demand for gold. But on the other hand, countries like greece and italy hold lots of gold and they might be force to dump their gold hoard when there is a run in these countries. So how will the demand and supply plays out? I am still looking for an answer.

Gold is the premium barter trade metal if your country's currency sucks.
It's great because the amount of gold in this world is more or less fixed.
And.. it will not oxidise, very compact and easily verifiable.

Barring a successful nuclear fusion technology, gold should have some value if the copper cables in my house are worth a few coins.

I always wonder where is the info that cpf invests into chinese banks from? Yes, Temasek invests into Chinese banks. But CPF is not Temasek. CPF mostly invests into Singapore government bonds or Temasek bonds, but not Temasek itself. Temasek is wholly owned by Singapore government.

You are right if you treat them as separate entities. Just like hdb making a loss selling flats.

i think actually, eventually everything belongs to the GOV. of the day. Just like the 皇帝 of olden days. Everything belongs to him. He just have to issue an edict, that's all. Do you really think the modern GOV. is really different? Democracratic or Russian or North Korea or China GOVS? If there are some differences, it may be on the surface only. imho

WB:-

1) Rule # 1, do not lose money.
2) Rule # 2, refer to # 1.
3) Not until you can manage your emotions, you can manage your money.

Truism of Investments.
A) Buying a security is buying RISK not Return
B) You can control RISK (to a certain level, hopefully only.) But definitely not the outcome of the Return.

NB:-
My signature is meant for psychoing myself. No offence to anyone. i am trying not to lose money unnecessary anymore.
