It is by no means a joke, and it should be no room for any joke or laugh...
It is a gesture to show the powerlessness of a sour, who is eager to help.

What a tragedy for year of 2014...
Indonesia says missing AirAsia plane could be at 'bottom of sea'
JAKARTA - A missing AirAsia jet carrying 162 people could be at the bottom of the sea after it was presumed to have crashed off the Indonesian coast, an official said on Monday, as countries around Asia sent ships and planes to help in the search effort.
The Indonesia AirAsia plane, an Airbus A320-200, disappeared after its pilot failed to get permission to fly higher to avoid bad weather during a flight from the Indonesian city of Surabaya to Singapore on Sunday.
Flight QZ8501 did not issue a distress signal and disappeared over the Java Sea five minutes after requesting the change of course, which was refused because of heavy air traffic, officials said.
"Based on our coordinates, we expect it is in the sea, so for now (we think) it is on the sea floor," Soelistyo, head of Indonesia's search and rescue agency, told reporters when asked about the missing plane's likely location.

Airasia Berhad is valued at 1.5x book at today's closing RM2.69, below the 10yr average, as compared to budget airliners such as Ryanair and Easyjet which are valued at 3.1x and 3.9x book respectively.
RoE is 15% and valued at 10x earnings.
Jet fuel prices have fallen from USD120/bbl to USD73/bbl which should reduce their cost in FY15.
MY only issue is with the high gearing at 175%.

It has been awhile since I looked at Air Asia in detail but I do remember that they had extensive oil hedging exposure. If that is still the case, it will take a while before the full impact of lower fuel prices will flow through to the bottomline as hedging losses will offset the lower cost of oil.

Is quite amazing at this time of age, bad weather can still down a commercial plane. Any idea why is it so dangerous to fly in bad weather ?

Turbulence and icing.
In this case, the plane was reported to be flying at around 353knots when it was at 36000ft. The plane was very slow and it was quite likely that it might stalled if there was a bad turbulence.
No speed no lift...
Anyway, the black box will be recovered and we will know the truth pretty soon.
