@scg8866t seems in the past week this stock has benefitted from the rising tide lifting many sgx small caps.

Maybe there is a new sgx small caps etf buying into these stocks.

Hope it can hit >$1.35 soon for me to unload.

Why unload? Just keep till neck break. This is a high MOS stock that gives a consistent 4.2% bond like dividend. Chairman can unlock value in multiple ways, selling their 6.8mil equity investment windfall(probable) or selling their freehold harrison(unlikely).

Catalyst include their wifi business picking up, capex of what was hinted as a global search engine or a global car rental business.

Ex cash pe is currently at 3.9x if we include their equity investments as cash.

Mos is slowly going away as the share price goes up.

Div yield is the same story.

Value unlocking is a speculation at best, just as good chance nothing happens.

Ex cash pe is just an analyst tool to glorify the pe of a company stuck with too much cash. Pe at face value would be more accurate.

Many would argue mgt. Is not managing the cash well to increase returns. They could have done more in terms of share buybacks.

And equity investments are not cash, could half in value very quickly, that's why they are called equity investments and not cash equivalent. Lol.

I guess there is nothing wrong in hoarding cash for buffer or acquisition.
The key to me is the return on capital (including idle cash).
We can see the ROE over the years and see how effective the Management is managing the capital.

For powermatic, it is obvious that the result is poor.
Thence, one could really argue if the Management is incapable of managing the cash why not distributing it out or buyback share? That reflect how well the Management is treating the minority partners. The answer to that is another obvious.

Well the cash and property provides down side protection, which is enough for me. Once down side is protected, any random events will be more likely to have a large positive impact than a large negative impact. Time will help me Big Grin

@ AGM of POWERMATIC DATA: Riding on growth of wi-fi connectivity in transport

Written by Leong Chan Teik
Published: 28 July 2017

Powermatic Data Systems reported a net profit of $4.2 million, up 47.2% y-o-y, drawing praises from several shareholders who spoke up at the AGM.

The secret sauce, we learnt, is the wi-fi connectivity solutions that Powermatic has in recent years supplied to enable wi-fi connectivity in transportation, such as trains, buses and taxis, especially in Europe and the US.

It's a field with relatively little competition, because it's a low-volume, high-mix business.

"We are in a niche area -- but it is getting bigger and bigger," said Dr Chen Mun, the executive chairman.

Congratulation to all vested valuebuddies.
What a fantastic run up.

From my trading record, my initiation was 29th Feb 2016 @ $0.87
It was a favourite of Oldman and extremely illiquid.
I'm very happy that the share price had surged so fast in such a short time.

Enjoy a wonderful weekend:
