Yup this is a good company to be in our portfolio.

The market price is below its liquidation value, the company is profitable and the dividend yield is good.

Thinking of adding more to my portfolio when the price weakens.

Hi all,

Just wrote an post on this stock based on my new checklist criteria.

Basically, the share price seem to have risen too much lately and it does not seem to be as worthwhile as it maybe last year.

If the price weakens significantly, then maybe I will add this to my portfolio.

its always around this price lah 95c - $1 after consolidation, Yield is getting compressed just below 5% now since the div same every year. No debt and net cash 58.6% and NAV ~$1.3 and RNAV ~1.75 (if revalued their building)

Compared to my other counter like Avitech and Namlee its stock price is not up much %wise.

oh and for your V scorecard
- a critical element IMHO is management, their background and OPMI shareholder friendliness and how they pay themselves is also important. Usually they are the ones who will make a value company into a value trap company lol...
- also testing period should be at least 5-10 years for value investing from my experience, 2 years too short liao...
- there is not much utility in looking at earnings for small cap since they are mostly sector dependent, no matter how value they are, no value will be realised if their industry is in a multiyear downcycle.

for powermatic catalyst will either be sell off their building or growth in their wifi business or a takeover like recent lantrovision case.

or the more common case of analyst rotating their "GORENG" stock and decide to goreng this counter Tongue

Hopefully the price fall below 0.9 before end of the year. I am just being biased again. But definitely agreed it is a good stock.

The author in that next insight article obviously was using an old router with 802.11b standard. The powermatic compex brand ones are newer N and AC standard for wifi which gave him a boost. His laptop wifi chip probably was N.

Yes powermatic maY make good stuff but router is plentiful, biG names like Asus are also making. (New home myrepublic installs are using asus afaik)

And even tech savvy like me also never heard of coMpex router until I bought powermatic stock. Lol they need to work on marketing seriously.

Maybe start by setting up some popup stalls at challenger stores that have pokestops with some cute chicks dressed up in pikachu costumes giving out free routers.

Make some routers that looks like poke balls will also sell like hotcakes

Anyone has any knowledge of powermatic's thailand portfolio? Assuming their newly renovated harrison road freehold building is valued at $35mil(Should be worth more since they did a hefty renovation after knight frank valuation).

We can treat this counter as an investment holding and completely write off their business and we can still get 1.82 per share(asset + cash + cash equity).

Only ard 12mil shares float left and those who bought are unwilling to sell. Valuation now is still cheap in my view if we extrapolate chart from 1993 until now.

As per last year's AR(pg 67/90),

17A. Investments available-for-sale at FVTOCI
       Quoted equity shares in corporations
            - Technology, Thailand  4,468

Business seems to be growing slowly again, though i am not gonna pin my hopes on their current stable of products. May provide some medium term gains if they manage to continue growing the business across USA / Europe and Asia, quite global!!! But unlikely to boom as I dun think they have any groundbreaking things in the pipeline. Perhaps old boss can concentrate on research and invent something spectacular in the next few year?

Property is happily collecting rental and they use for their own office, so unlikely to sell, unless we see another property boom here, once again unlikely in the next 5 years.

The most likely catalyst short term is of course the currently popular theme of privatisation. Boss (55.8%) and right hand woman(8.26%) plus top 20 shareholders own ~80% of the company already so it won't be hard for boss to delist, not sure if he will do that since he has kept it listed for so many years liao even though he is way past retirement age. third party fundy might be interested but likely to be knock back by boss. Look out for the usual share buy backs and insider buys, haven't seen any recently...

If boss offer near to NAV of ~$1.40 this year I will definitely be selling my small stake of >0.26% of the company to him ROFL ;P

Why would you want to sell at 1.40?. Cash and harrison alone already 1.80(80cts cash + $1). I feel management is conservative and smart. Their recent renovation also increased gfa by linking the two buildings at every lvl and increased the number of carparks. Season parking is a form of carpark rental.
Reply
Why not $1.40? It is stated NAV what, getting a dollar for a dollar of net assets, not bad what.

Property is not gonna be sold what, so even you revalue it to 70m or 100m also no use, it wont be monetized, just good as asset backing during bad times help you sleep better..

Div yield will only be 3.6% at $1.40 price.

If you net out cash, means getting 60c for an underperforming business and some investments.

Keep in mind my entry is around 80c I think like 3 years back? So technically will get $1.55 including the dividends they have given me. Almost double up in 3 years not bad what.

Vs. holding out for $2 which may never materialize.

You know now economy bad, can suddenly loss of rental tenant, car park empty, investment impairment, inventory impairment, dividend cut. Volume is so small, price could just as easily drop back to below 80c if co. somehow starts making losses and small OPMI start panic and sell. By then boss offer recent $1.20 peak price ppl will say wah so generous and gladly sell to him.

So not only boss, if anyone offer $1.40 I will quickly sell and keep my cash look for some other company loh...
