Chinese magnate donates $750m to foundation for senior citizens

The Irish Times - Tuesday, June 12, 2012

http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/fina...52979.html [Full Article]

Wow ! It seems YZJ Boss has donated 27.83% stake in YZJ to charity.

Note: There was no official announcement so the article was probably incorrect.

The 27.83% in YZJ apparently is the total stake of Mr Ren's. If he has given all his shares in YZJ to charity, what if the charity sold all these shares in the market to obtain cash?

THE ARTICLE IS A HOAX. ITS NOT TRUE AT ALL.

“In FY2011, Yangzijiang declared 5.5 Singapore cents of dividends, which would translate into some S$55 million in dividends for Mr. Ren YuanLin based on his shareholding in Yangzijiang. What was pleasantly surprising is the fact that he has pledged this amount, together with all future dividends to be received from his 26% stake in Yangzijiang, into the Yuanlin Charity Foundation.” - ZaoBao May 2012

The charity organisation is probably still owned by him.

If his ulterior motive is to cash out, I got to say this is pretty creative!

Win-win situation.

the building of 10,000 TEU container ship for Seaspan has started. 1 in XinYangzi Yard, the other in Xinfu Yard.

there were unconfirmed news about Seaspan negotiating the remaining 18 options and asking for extension.

Seaspan excised 4 more options to build 10,000 TEU boxships. What's interesting is that "The above mentioned development will not have any significant impact on the earnings per share and net tangible assets per share of the YZJ Group for the current financial year ending 31 December 2013."

These 4 ships will be delivered in 2014, but not contributing materially in earning of 2013. Either it can produce substantially all 4 chips within a year in 2014 only, or the company is not expecting material profit from the 10,000 TEU boxships.

yangzijiang is really a very good company (with great mangagement who walk the talk). Once the shipping industry recovers, it will soar

why has the share price of Yangzijiang dropped after announcing a dividend of 5cents, a yield of more than 5 percent? does the market disdain YZJ so much? gross profit margin is still strong at 31% although revenue and profit has dropped 22 %, more or less in line with analyst estimate
