Mmm... land in US... based on US law... reinsurance company ASEI by... Indonesian government owned company....
US reinsurance companies are much much stronger and easily assessable in this case...
doesn't sound logical at all...
And ya, hedge funds throws $ much faster, rather than retail investors.... pengx...

This is because we were the one who approached them instead of the other way round. Therefore, we could only get a portion of the the whole development, not the full one. Moreover, the project is only open to non-US citizens only, this is due to taxation reasons. As we all know US has a very complicated tax scheme, to avoid getting involve in the complicated tax scheme, they have excluded the US citizens for this project. Yes, hedge fund makes decisions slow, may require months and may result in no conclusive decision. Raising fund through investors is faster, contracts may require time to print and admin work might be tedious, but that's about it. The structure allows the developer to have a hold on the timeline. This is very important because the building season in North Dakota will only last for 6 months.

so they gave away part of this fabulous development when they can have it all and make all the money?!!??
Isn't that even more illogical??!! :O

I understand your worries. They did not come here to get the fund. In fact, it was us who approached them to come into Singapore to market the development, therefore only partial of the project was offered to the Asia market, not the first thought 100%. Yes, the Americans are rich, but as we all know that the US has a very complicated tax system and due to this reason, the developer did not involve the Americans. Yup, hedge funds make decisions slow, it will require months and may results in no conclusive decision. Whereas raising fund through investors is faster, contracts may require some time to print and admin work can be tedious but that's about it. The advantage is further magnified as this flow of process allows us to have a hold on the timeline. This is important as the building season due to the extremely cold weather, lasted for 6 months only. So, we have to source the fund before the development starts and getting the fund from the investors will be the fastest way to do it.

so mainly reason for coming to sg to raise funds,
1) Avoid US TAX System
2) Not open to US market
3) Faster Cash compared to Hedge Funds (Retail Investors funds are faster?!)
For an investment,
1) Located in US
2) Following US Laws... (for Offshore Investments?)
3) Reinsurance by Indo Co.
Sums up the picture?
1) Try NOT to LOSE money!
2) Do NOT SELL in BEAR, BUY-BUY-BUY! invest in managements/companies that does the same!
3) CASH in hand is KING in BEAR!
4) In BULL, SELL-SELL-SELL!

I just want to add a liner :
For any venture, I think we should not let the promised / perceived high return blind us, we should also consider the downside.
