I believe that in the SG and Msia context there is still plenty of room for growth.
I notice the old are picking up on using technology, nowadays I take bus or mrt I see uncles and aunties using their iphones or tablets to watch drama or play games too.
Also the new generations are starting to use technology at a very young age, even primary school kids use computer to do homework etc.
I believe the demand for IT products will still be strong, especially tablets and laptops.
Attached is 2 tables from Courts Asia IPO prospectus, the average growth for the industry over the last 3 years was about 5.5%
Challenger did a good job and managed to grow by over 4 times the average, a solid 25%!
I will be happy if they continue to open like 2-3 stores per year, maybe 1 in Msia and 2 in Sg per year will be great, until they reach about 50 stores
I believe in 10 to 20 years time only the top 3 IT retailers will survive, maybe Challenger, CourtsAsia and Pertama
The smaller retailers will have a big disadvantage as they lack economies of scale.
The IT retailer scene will look more like our supermarket scene, with the big 3 NTUC, Diary Farm & Sheng Shiong dominating the market
in such oligopoly, shareholders are usually very well rewarded, cheers ^^
As East Point Mall will be closed for 1 year to under go renovation, Challenger will be having a member's clearance sale!
