PM Lee apologized in GE 2011 for the frequent train breakdowns and promised he would look into the problem seriously. Since them what have been solved ?

In view of Tuesday's massive train breakdown, and given the train operator's breakdown record, it is high time chief executives and other senior management of train operators be made accountable for train service performance, and not just profit ("2 major MRT lines down for over 2 hours"; Wednesday).
Although SMRT is a private company, it still has a public service role to fulfil; SMRT should also be made answerable to the public and not just shareholders.
A significant portion of senior management's pay, and not just bonus, should be directly linked to breakdown in service performance and public satisfaction. In a bad service performance year, they should see a real wage cut, rather than just a reduced bonus.
We cannot have CEOs collecting millions of dollars in bonuses when the service track record is bad.

GE 2011 was held in May. The first major train breakdown that resulted in a COI happened in Dec 2011. It was a Saturday and I was in JB.

Be it Jan or Dec , it has been years and the problems have not been fixed despite promise after promise , worst still they even said they didn't know what was the cause of the breakdown and hinted such breakdowns can be expected in the future.

Why should he care?
It's not as though I am going to vote for WP just because of this incident. At the end of the day, most voters will still vote for PAP.
I have more confidence in Tin Pei Ling than I have in Sylvia Lim or Chen Show Mao put together.
Get used to regular SMRT breakdown or buy a car, because some of us are not going to change our voting pattern.
