U reckon $30K/yr can cover basic needs and expenses?
Unless one has a big capital base, just relying on dividend income can be quite challenging.
So I guess trading the market is necessary.

30k is sufficient for a small family with basis needs.
need to minimise or avoid the top 3 expenses in sgp (kids, car, holiday)
My take is that $30K annual income is barely enough to support one adult in Singapore, including basic expenses like maintenance, utilities etc. It will not be sufficient to support a small family, without severe cutback in quality of life. Also, It does not leave much buffer for unforeseen expenses like medical issues, repairs etc which crop up when you least wanted them to.
Luck play a large part in trading success, so you need to cater for a dry spell when lady luck might not be smiling on you.
Frankly, I'm not as sanguine as you're on your plan, unless you've a substantive emergency fund to fall back on when things are not going well.
It's certainly none of my business, but i do wish you well.  Shy
Thanks for the kind warning.
I had been trading for abt 2 mths & is up ard 10k with hit rate of ard 80%.
I am also fearful of what might happen if i were to hit a streak of bad run.
Anybody got any experience to share?

This is what i found from google. I am starting to have a little feel of it. I could be completely wrong. Is just 6th sense thing.

The most essential part of trolling is convincing your victim that either a) truly believe in what you are saying, no matter how outrageous, or b) give your victim malicious instructions, under the guise of help.

Trolling requires deceiving; any trolling that doesn't involve deceiving someone isn't trolling at all; it's just stupid. As such, your victim must not know that you are trolling; if he does, you are an unsuccessful troll. "

hi BlueKelah,
Based on your comment, I took at look at the historical postings by funman168, which started in 2011.

- In fact, this is not the first time he had started similar threads (Past threads include "Investment for a living" and "Mum retirement portfolio" etc). Some of these threads generated robust and value-added comments for all who had similar thoughts (eg. d.o.g had replied earlier in this current thread and all of us are a little bit wiser after reading it)
- The numbers and companies quoted by funman168 from 2013 onwards to now, looks relatively constant (I did not do a detailed forensic check though). "100k a year" salary was actually only achieved in "some of the years", as admitted in a past thread.
- Some of the numbers were quoted wrongly and admitted by funman168 in "Mum retirement portfolio" thread, after our as-ever sharp VBuddies pointed out.

All in all. There is no hard evidence there is trolling. Would prefer to give the benefit of the doubt, as the various other VBuddies had already done so previously in his past threads.

Something I do not understand. You are 40+. CPF Investment is done in SA account. How did you manage to use it finance your property ?

I didn't do CPF investment for years. I recall, we can invest with OA as well as SA, right?

I have chosen to believe funman168's story.  Big Grin

CPF OA CAN be used for investments, subject to some caps. Can buy both approved funds as well as individual stocks

My bad. OA you can. I always have the assumption is the other way. I don't invest with my CPF. Smile
