SINGAPORE: The Sam Kee Station on the West loop of the Punggol Light Rapid Transit (LRT) system will be open to passengers at the end of February, SBS Transit said on Thursday (Feb 18).
Opening on Feb 29, the trains will move from Sam Kee Station (PW1), Nibong Station (PW5), Sumang Station (PW6) and Soo Teck Station (PW7) to Punggol Town Centre Station and back in a continuous loop, said the transport operator in a press release.
From 3pm to the end of service, the trains will move in the opposite direction, departing from the Punggol Town Centre Station and arriving at Sam Kee Station last, it added.
Sam Kee Station will provide commuters such as those from nearby executive condo The Terrace EC, Treasure Crest , Waterwoods EC, Amore EC ,Bellewaters EC and The Vales EC with convenient access to the Punggol Waterway Park and soon-to-be-opened SAFRA Punggol clubhouse, the company said.
The first train on the West Loop will continue to arrive at the Punggol Town Centre Station at 5.27am on weekdays while the last train will depart from this same station at 12.40am daily, said SBS.
SBS Transit CEO Gan Juay Kiat said: "We are delighted to commence operations of this station to serve the travel needs of commuters in getting to these facilities for their leisure and recreational pursuits."
