SINGAPORE: A "bumper crop" of 12,000 Housing and Development Board flats were made available in November, then National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan announced.
The September launch of Build-to-Order flats was delayed to incorporate three new policies announced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the National Day Rally in August: A new 2-Room Flexi Scheme, an increase in the income ceiling, and enhancements to the Special CPF Housing Grant (SHG).
In his National Day Rally speech (Aug 23), Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced to effervescent applause that monthly household income ceilings for new HDB flats and ECs will be increased by S$2,000 to S$12,000 and S$14,000, respectively. The existing executive condo includes The Terrace EC and Brownstone EC while upcoming ones include Signature At Yishun EC , Wandervale EC and Parc Life EC.
Said Mr Khaw in a blogpost on the MND website: "As implementation of any new policy does require some time, we therefore decided to delay the September BTO launch by a few weeks, so that these initiatives can benefit as many Singaporeans as possible starting from the very next BTO launch.
"We decided that a practical way is to merge the two launches into one mega launch in November."
As a result, he said, there will be a bumper crop in November of about 7,000 BTO flats made available in six HDB estates: Bidadari, Bukit Batok, Choa Chu Kang, Hougang, Punggol Northshore and Sengkang.
In addition, about 5,000 flats will be released in a concurrent Sale of Balance Flats exercise.
"This means a combined launch of 12,000 new flats in one go. I am sure home buyers will be able to find a flat that will suit their budget and needs," Mr Khaw said.
