*SINCE DREAMS ARE NOTEWORTHY; HOW DO WE ENSURE THAT WE ARE NOT ATTACHED TO IT*
Caller: I heard you mentioned before that manifestation of dreams is dependent on a person's cultivation and his misfortune. In that case, we are to take dream as noteworthy but not develop attachment to so as to maintain a mind-set that takes the “middle way”, is that correct?
Master Jun Hong Lu: That’s right. Dream that comes naturally may be taken as reference. It is just to drop you hints, like reading Totem - to bring your attention to something; it is a means to an end, not an end in itself. The ultimate objective is for you to cultivate your mind and perform recitation.

*QUESTION REGARDING HANGING THE GREAT COMPASSION MANTRA POSTER*
Caller: Please enlighten us Master Lu, you have mentioned previously that hanging the *_Great Compassion Mantra_* poster at home would help create positive energies. But, if the family members have not practised full vegetarianism, are they able to hang the poster in the living hall?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Yes, you can.
Caller: Will it be disrespectful to the *_Great Compassion Mantra_* if not everyone in the family is vegetarian?
Master Jun Hong Lu: You cannot help it. You have no choice.
Caller: Oh, if given a choice, can it be hung inside the bedroom of a bachelorette? That is, to hang the poster inside the fellow practitioner’s bedroom.
Master Jun Hong Lu: You may do so as long as there is no sexual conduct in the room.
Caller: She is single.
Master Jun Hong Lu: That is alright then.
Caller: Can she hang it facing her feet or hang it above her headboard?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Both ways are incorrect. She can only hang it alongside the bed.

*BUDDHIST PRACTITIONERS SHOULD SEEK HELP OF BODHISATTVAS WHEN ENCOUNTERING INSURMOUNTABLE DIFFICULTIES*
Caller: Master Lu, one of our fellow practitioners has this perception based on personal experience, which we are not sure if it is true. Kindly advise us, Master Lu. Sometimes we are faced with obstacles at work which will lead to losses if we do not seek the help of Bodhisattvas. However, when we seek the help of Bodhisattvas, things will improve in a short period of time and eventually the issues will be resolved. As Buddhist practitioners, should we or should we not seek the help of Bodhisattvas when we encounter insurmountable difficulties?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Of course you should seek the help of Bodhisattvas. Otherwise, what’s the point of praying to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and reciting Buddhist scriptures? It’s very simple. Do you think Bodhisattvas want you to suffer? Bodhisattvas will feel the sadness for your suffering. When Master see you suffering, will I be upset?
Caller: Yes.
Master Jun Hong Lu: Then what is my purpose of teaching you how to recite Buddhist scriptures? Asking you to recite Buddhist scriptures is to save you from suffering, so that you can set your mind free. It’s that simple.

*A DROP OF WATER*
Someone asked Lord Buddha, “As human, how do we prevent our single drop of water from ever drying up, especially when it tend to evaporate even more rapidly under the sun”. Lord Buddha replied, “To prevent this drop of water from drying up, we will have to put it into the river, lake or sea”. Similarly, when we are able to unite our heart with those of sentient beings’, we are able to rise above lives’ many obstacles and resolve its many grievances.

*DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH OTHERS’ EMOTIONAL MATTERS AS IT WILL INFRINGE ON THEIR KARMA*
Caller: In one of your discourses, you mentioned that we must not advise couples to divorce no matter how bad their relationships may be. However, in our daily life or during the process of helping others, we do encounter cases of single females who are involved in improper relationships, like being a third party. Under such circumstances, how should we advise them?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Do not get involved directly or you will activate that person’s karma. Simply advise that she practise Buddhism and cultivate spiritual growth. There are some matters you should not be involved at all. Your involvement will infringe on the other party’s karma and you will have to bear the karmic consequences.
Caller: If the other party is not a Buddhist practitioner but is our friend or someone we wish to help her to practise Buddhism, under such a situation, is it still best not to get involved?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Of course not. Don’t get involved. This should be the way.

*TALKING ABOUT OTHERS BEHIND THEIR BACK IS AN ACT OF SOWING DISCORD; REPENT BY RECITING THE EIGHTY-EIGHT BUDDHAS GREAT REPENTANCE*
Caller: Some Buddhist friends have issues with persons-in-charge of Dharma practice centre because of their approaches / ways of doing things, and started to discuss about their ideas and opinions behind their back. Is this considered an act of sowing discord?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Yes, as long as you have stirred things up, you are considered to have sowed discord.
Caller: How severe is the karmic obstacles caused by such behaviour?
Master Jun Hong Lu: It depends, if you keep on sowing discord among others, it will surely be very serious and would end up in hell. However, it would not be a big issue if you only happened to do it by chance, just repent by reciting the Eighty-eight Buddhas Great Repentance (Li Fo Da Chan Hui Wen).
Caller: I see, how many times shall we recite the Eighty-eight Buddhas Great Repentance in this case?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Keep reciting.
Caller: Continue to recite until there is no more sense of guilt?
Master Jun Hong Lu: That’s right.

*NEGATIVE KARMA WILL BE ELIMINATED WHEN THE MIND AND BODHISATTVA CONNECTS DURING RECITATION*
Caller: In Buddhism in Plain Terms, you mentioned “recitation can eliminate negative karma”. Hence, in the process of recitations and elimination of negative karma, how do we converge the compassionate vows embodied in the Mantra and the state of our actions, speeches and thoughts from recitations, so that they could operate in togetherness to achieve the goal of enlightening sentient beings in addition to that of eliminating negative karma? Please advise us, Master Lu.
Master Jun Hong Lu: It is through "unification of our mind with that of Buddha". When your thoughts are preoccupied with Buddha, Buddha will be in your heart. When your life is guided by the cognitive thoughts of Buddha, it is known as "unification of mind with that of Buddha". As long as you are able to unify your heart with Buddha, you would have attained the unification.

*STOP WASTING OUR LIFE*
Master Jun Hong Lu: Let me give you some advices, hope everyone would keep this in mind:
The greatest mistake in life is exchanging our health for mere worldly possessions;
The greatest sorrow in life is exchanging our life for personal troubles;
The greatest wastage in life is expending our life in resolving problems created by ourselves.
Indeed, the biggest error in life is incessantly repeating our own mistakes.
