Redirection

Hi admins

My iPhone and iPad keep redirecting the Safari to open the app store to install Uber and Gumtree app on a 5-10minutes basis ever since last month.

I thought it was a virus on my mobile devices but I don't seemed to have that issue if I don't open VB with Safari

Not sure if anyone else have this issue or is it fixable on your side.

Are you still using iOS 7? I got the same problem until I upgraded to iOS 8. It seems to solve that problem.

Don't know how to do it on ipad / iphone.

On android kitkat devices, I solve the problem by deleting cache :
Settings > Apps > Google Play Store > Clear Cache

Had tried clearing cache before but didnt work after few minutes. Strange thing is that it doesn't seemed to be activated by user activity but rather some random time when loading the page

Thanks NTL i didnt upgrade the iOS. Probably its a browser thing i guess. What is strange is that this issue only started happening last month.

There are some tricks in the above discussions.

I think some advertisements in VB triggered the auto app store execution.

I think ios8 fixed some.

There are some tricks to block that. Though they are imperfect solutions.

I thought it could be the advertisements too. What I don't understand is why Uber and Gumtree. There are no Uber or Gumtree ads as far as I can see here.

Thanks Yeokiwi... will check it out when home. I think the app store got triggered somehow by one of VB's advertising when I visit VB using Apple mobile devices and the flavour of the month happen to be Gumtree and Uber

Which advert is the culprit will require cyclone to find out and also if it is worth the effort

I suspect the ads of an ad server which make such redirection. I have disabled its advertising.
The redirection is really annoying.
Let's see if it solves the problem. If it doesn't, I'll put back its ads scripts.

Thanks for taking the effort to reduce annoyance to a small minority of us I think the clue is something new changed last month.

If it is not worth the effort pls do what you deem optimal... we know you are the alpha admin
