Why buy back now? Isn't the prices of most of these stocks are quite far above their "mean" price?
Really for whose benefits? If company has too much retained earnings, increase dividends pay to you is the real stuff not any other "financial engineering" by the company. My 2 cents.
WB:-

1) Rule # 1, do not lose money.
2) Rule # 2, refer to # 1.
3) Not until you can manage your emotions, you can manage your money.

Truism of Investments.
A) Buying a security is buying RISK not Return
B) You can control RISK (to a certain level, hopefully only.) But definitely not the outcome of the Return.

NB:-
My signature is meant for psychoing myself. No offence to anyone. i am trying not to lose money unnecessary anymore.

I think this gives one indication of certain level of management style to keep money within themselves.
I could see exception in ST Eng. Not sure about SAT.

For OCBC, the company is replenishing the Treasury shares for issue as (a) Employee Share scheme, (b) share options, and © future scrip dividends? That is good, is it not?

Vested in both OCBC and ST Eng.
