$10k a bit low. I will consider getting a car when COE hit $30k. $20k over 120 months, not much difference. $166 pm.

If it stays before $10k for 3 months, I will renew COE for my existing car as a standby car. Thats also means those PARF/COE cars Uber drivers AND existing car owners are using will also renew another 5 years or 10 years.
$10k over 120 months = $83 per month. So unlikely COE will falls to that level.

Hi BlueKelah
Thanks. You are right about Lion City.

Hi TTTI
Uber hire people with their own cars, also those without car but rent.

Listing of Uber Car Rental Partners:
http://ubersg-marketplace.com/location/singapore/#rent

These partners has been sweeping up all the available used Toyota/Honda cars (Vios/Altis/Wish/Camry/Jazz/Stream) off the resale market, and are now exploring new cars to meet their demand.

aiyah there are many emerging market ETF that kind of product which will automatically buy SG stocks as part of their holdings.

Since oil price up and china gov pumping money into the property again resulting in a short term boost to consumption of commodity for that sector, expectations are things gonna get better. Its all about speculating on the China and Oil stories at the moment.

But fundamentally, USA without QE is crap, Japan with QE is crap and Europe with QE also crap, China with QE okish but debt just piling up.

I remember a similar bounce in STI last year around october time which fizzled out after a month as things got worse China side.

Singapore bets on rising Asia middle class to help spur economy

SINGAPORE — The rise of the Asian middle class will remain the dominant regional growth story for years to come, enough to help Singapore cope with headwinds from the global economy, a top official said.

Even though the city-state’s economy is coming under strain, observers shouldn’t discount positive signs including resilient consumer spending in South-east Asia and solid increases in air traffic at the Changi international airport, a regional hub, Economic Development Board Chairman Beh Swan Gin said in an interview Monday (April 25).

Dr Beh says Singaporean businesses can take advantage of economies set to benefit from young and growing populations and urbanisation, such as the Philippines and Indonesia. While some countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations are facing political uncertainty, that won’t necessarily detract from the growth outlook as long as they keep their economies open and follow market-friendly policies, he said.

“We are generally optimistic about the medium to long term,” Dr Beh said. “ASEAN, despite all the political uncertainties, is coming along at a pace of economic growth of around 5 percent.”
