Why would Singtel lose? The more the take up rate of EPL at $59.90, the better for Singtel, isn't it?

sorry

I meant that in the long term the cable TV business would seems less profitable as competition intensifies
However starhub seems to be still doing pretty well in the mobile area as revenues have a bit of growth (single digit)

Singtel is trying to attract people to upgrade to its $65 package, for another $5 additional, which includes the EPL and the 40~50 channels of prgs. Let's see whether this help to retain its fans.

I used Evernote for a while, then gave-up... Starhub is following the same route as SingTel, but in a slightly different way, SingTel acquires them, but Starhub partners them...

Evernote team up with StarHub to boost presence in Asia

SINGAPORE – StarHub today (Aug 22) announced a partnership with Evernote to deliver its premium subscription (worth S$58) to the telco’s new or recontracting postpaid customers for free for a year.

The move is the note-taking app’s latest step to expand its footprint in Asia, especially in Southeast Asia, said its Chief Operating Officer Ken Gullicksen at the announcement this morning. Singapore has the highest penetration of Evernote users per capita in the world, shared Mr Gullicksen. Of its 66 million users worldwide, 400,000 reside in here - making Singapore the most successful markets in terms of market penetration.

And Evernote wants to use Singapore as showcase city for the region. By working with StarHub, it hopes to make the app relevant to its around 1.2 million postpaid customers. And help people relate to its uses.

StarHub’s Head of i3 (Innovation, Investment, Incubation) Stephen Lee said: “We’re really seeing very strong competition in Singapore market today across all the telcos. As it is, the handset penetration has already reached close to 154 per cent. And it is really how customers today are utilising their high speed broadband as well as mobile network, or mobile broadband data plan to have access to many different applications so it’s not just about communications anymore.

“It is how we value-add to the lifestyle of our customers. So, with the partnership with Evernote, we found that it is imperative that we hear what the customers want and really they’re looking for more in terms of productivity apps.”

Hi Drizzt, just curious, why do you prefer M1?

Is it because the Evernote program is more compatible with M1's platform?

oh no. its more of a review from most that Starhub have reception issues, plus m1 corporate plan can get 24 months free caller id.

the thing about evernote is such that its freenium model, its free platform can do so much. and the people that paid for the subsicription are really the folks that appreciates it.

i would certainly like to try the notebook sharing and all, but am ok to do without it.

I see.....

Btw, are you using a 3G or 4G mobile plan? And if you are using 3G, do you intend to upgrade to 4G?

I upgraded from 3G to 4G recently. I did not notice any significant improvement in speed. I am using Singtel. Undecided

I doubt the usefulness, but a good try by Starhub, at least to provide an option for visually-impaired persons...

An app that helps visually-impaired persons 'see'

SINGAPORE — Visually-impaired persons can now "see" through an app that will crowdsource descriptions of pictures they upload.

Developed by StarHub and Tribal DDB, the MySmartEye can connect visually-impaired persons to a worldwide network of volunteers who will look at pictures snapped by users and describe them. This description will be read out over the visually-impaired person's phone.

Alongside the app launch, StarHub also announced today (Aug 27) a mobile plan for the visually and hearing impaired. Called SmartBuddy, the S$26.60 plan is packaged with more talk time, 5000 SMS and 6GB of data.

Said Dr Christopher Low, President of the Singapore Association for the Deaf: "We are happy that StarHub SmartBuddy is … Offering a large data bundle with a price cap. This is especially timely considering how our clients are relying more heavily on social media to connect with individuals worldwide."
