ST Forum: Be vigilant to uphold S'pore's good reputation - by Chen Bin
(extract)
... recently, I was at an airport in Spain, where there was a long queue at a counter for tourists to claim tax refund.
The process of opening one's luggage to show the purchases was taking a long time.
As the queue get longer, the officers discussed and decided to exempt certain passport holder from showing their purchases.
Singapore were among those exempted.
It takes generation to build up a good reputation but only took a few incidents to destroy it.
I applaud the individuals who reported the people collecting waste oil.
As long as we stay vigilant, we stand a good chance of nipping unscrupulous acts in the bud.
Love Compassion
