China GDP growth ‘will exceed 7.5%’ in first 9 months
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN — China’s economic growth should hold above 7.5 per cent in the first nine months of this year, Premier Li Keqiang said yesterday, a sign that the government will next week report success in arresting a two-quarter slowdown.
The economy has “shown stronger momentum” in the past few months, backed by improvements in business profits and government revenues, Mr Li said at the ASEAN Plus Three Summit.
China is set to release third-quarter economic growth data next Friday and analysts expect activity to have expanded by 7.8 per cent from the same period a year ago. Growth had fallen to 7.5 per cent in the second quarter from 7.7 per cent in the first.
