face it People who rent HDB majority generally want cheap rental, if money for them were not an issue they will go for apartments or condos, so the amt you can get for leasing out whole hdb unit is more or less fixed at around 2.5-3k depending on locality.

if you keep a room for yourself to stay then you can't rent out the whole unit and probably only can rent out spare rooms. If you have 4 room means 1 master + 2 bedrooms, if you keep the master for yourself and rent our 2 bedrooms, market rate for each is only $850 with aircon.

Then you got to deduct electrical water gas bills tenants use in the end can make a little money not a whole lot.

Unless you go thailand stay then rent out the whole flat here then can make enuf to sustain thailand lifestyle and then some Big Grin

Most people who bought early w keep the hdb and collect rental, to pay for the condo instalments. 4 room at punggol can rent out at $2400. My friend bought the flat at $200k only. haha, Yield = 14% !
