Central China presents new opportunities for S’pore firms
SINGAPORE — With major cities along China’s coast becoming increasingly crowded with businesses hoping to exploit growth potential in the world’s second-biggest economy, the relatively unexplored central region is emerging as an area offering fresh opportunities.
While some Singapore companies such as CapitaMalls Asia, Mapletree Logistics and Keppel Telecommunications & Transportation have already established a presence in central China, the Republic only accounts for 2 to 3 per cent of total foreign direct investment in the region, said International Enterprise’s (IE) Regional Director Of South China Region Foong Kah Keong at a media briefing.
