My conspiracy theory:
Whole world watching a cornered child to see if he will test his faulty toy to celebrate late relative birthday after he kept throwing tantrums over last few weeks. He knows his toy is faulty so decided to do a copy cat.
He is well educated to strike on 2 fronts - shorted commodities and other financial instruments and paid off his buddies to create gatecrash at a big party.
