Customer-focused is one of the moats of the company. IMO, it is a very right thing to do, although it might earn more with more sales of the equipment...Big Grin

Sarine opens diamond imaging service centre opens in New York

SINGAPORE (Nov 19): Sarine North America, Inc., the wholly-owned subsidiary of Sarine Technologies (Financial Dashboard), has opened a service centre for Sarine Loupe diamond imaging at its offices in New York's diamond district.

With the centre, wholesalers and diamond cutters will now be able to have their polished diamonds scanned by the service at Sarine North America's offices on 47th Street and would need not invest in any of their own equipment.

Subsequently, links to the scanned images can be simultaneously sent to all potential customers worldwide for their viewing, “enabling more informed, transparent, quicker and less expensive dealing”.

The company share price has been corrected recently, but the valuation still "expansive" IMO. At rolling PE of 22, is much lower than around 30 previously, still not cheap enough.

I may be too greedy, and might miss the boat again....Big Grin

Sarine faults diamond industry woes for unusual trading activity

SINGAPORE (Dec 23): Sarine Technologies ( Financial Dashboard) has hinted at credit woes and weak demand facing the diamond industry for the unusual trading activity of its stock, in response to a query by the Singapore Exchange at 4:20 p.m.

At about 1:33 p.m. yesterday, Sarine’s share price started falling from $2.52 to close the day 6.6% lower or 17 cents lower at $2.41 with 568,000 shares traded. The stock had opened 2.7% lower at $2:51 on Monday morning to trade flatly after closing at $2.58 last Friday.

The manufacturer of grading and imaging systems for diamonds and gemstones announced in an SGX filing after market hours that it was not aware of any information not previously announced that might explain its unusual afternoon trading activity,.

Sarine denied it was aware of any “discussions and negotiations that may lead to joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions or purchase or sale of a significant asset” that could have triggered the sudden plunge in its stock price.

However, the company did reiterate the warning made in its 3Q14 financial statements published on Nov 9 that the diamond industry has been and is likely to continue to be adversely affected during 4Q14 and early 2015 by credit shortage, increase in polished diamond inventories and the divergence in the prices of rough stones and polished diamonds.

“Based on recent publications made by leading figures and analysts in the diamond industry and based on queries made to the Company following such publications, it appears that such trends have indeed continued,” Sarine added.

"Correct" seems an understatement. Basically the price crashed. Peril of the market ...

I could understand the connection of oil price to oil related counters but this one (not related) is ... really crashed.

Seems pretty hard to foresee other than being "played up" with ever increasing performance ?

There are no good stocks. Stocks are only good when they go up after you bought them.

Sarine Technologies says concerns about 4Q2014 results unwarranted

SINGAPORE (Dec 26): Sarine Technologies ( Financial Dashboard), whose share price fell as much as 19% over the past week, said it expects revenue for the current quarter to be in line with or slightly better than that for 4Q2013 despite the challenges in the diamond industry.

Even after the 30% drop in share price from its peak, PE ratio is still around 25; do VBs feel that this stock is a bit over-valued?

At its recent low – PE was around 25 – overvalued or not – share price has rebounded roughly 20% since - be it weighing machine or voting machine at work

Going forward, the key questions are:

1) Is the current slower growth experienced by Sarine only a temporary setback?
2) Could Sarine resume its usual HIGH growth rate?
3) Could Sarine maintain its technological competitive advantage to constantly come out with innovative products to fend off any meaningful competition?
4) Has too much future growth been priced in AGAIN in the share price?
