The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood Храм Спаса на Крови:
The reason why it's called Spilled Blood because the church was build on a site which marked the car bomb which eventually killed the great Tsar Alexandra.
If you read yesterday newspaper or the US ambassador for Singapore sharing his stays here during 2003, you'll notice that Osama's cook book for bomb attack was a copycat of this incident.
Well, the plot goes in this way: (extracted from wiki)
On March 13, 1881 (Julian date: March 1), as Tsar Alexander's carriage passed along the embankment, a grenade thrown by an anarchist conspirator exploded.
The tsar, shaken but unhurt, got out of the carriage and started to remonstrate with the presumed culprit.
A second conspirator took the chance to throw another bomb, killing himself and mortally wounding the tsar. The tsar, bleeding heavily, was taken back to the Winter Palace where he died a few hours later.
The exterior is stunning:

and, the interior is inpired with awe. almost 100% of the display/painting/what you see is in mosaic eg. small piece of stone 1cm x 1 cm. enjoy:
