For the objects to be formed using 3D printing, the materials itself inherently has some properties which may or may not be useful to the final product

Suffice to say that material science is a very complicated subject else natural rubber would have been totally replaced by synthetics. If your aim is to make toys or trophies then 3D printing would work, else it's hard for me not to be skeptical AT THIS STAGE.

The material usable for 3D printers, can be from as common as plastic, to as unique as living human cells. Please refer to previous discussion on the topic in VB. It doesn't seem 3D printers need specific material to work.

^^ Specific materials have to be used that can combine or solidify in a relatively quick instance. For example the lasers used in nano tech would be a disaster to try to combine bio-materials together Smile

I have added comments in the thread u mentioned to avoid hijacking this thread Smile Always great to have a good discussion Smile

Venture announce 3q results.

While QoQ rev is flat.

Bottom line show continuous QoQ improvement.

Despite the higher tax due to expiry of tax incentive, bottom line still improve. In fact, gross margin is highest in the past 7 quarters.

Best of all, company expect new programmmes from both existing and new customers.

Computers and peripherals continue to decline, QoQ the rest of segments are stable

Recovery story still intact. Yeah!

I beg to differ. Traditionally 3rd and 4th quarters are supposed to be their best quarters. However now it's only marginally better than 2nd quarter. it seems that business is slowing.

Er ... Yes, 2 H is traditional stronger and is playing out like it should.

2011 and 2012 are years of disappointment when 2H did not improve.

Also, tax paid is higher in 2014 than 2011-12.

Operationally, although not clear sunny sky, at least the dark cloud has clear.

It is doing better QoQ for second year in the row, and better YOY both in terms of top line and bottom line.

Customers are well-diversified. Although some like Qualacomn has troubles, I believe that can muddle along with small growth over the next 2 years. US manufacturing is improving too.

2015, we should have some contribution from printer segment from 3D, and the rest just need to hold up.

Venture Corp: Downgrade to HOLD on valuation grounds

The World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) reported that the world semiconductor market grew 9.9% to US$336b in 2014, mainly driven by 18.2% growth in memory product category as annual sales increased across all geographical regions. WSTS goes on to forecast steady but moderate growth of 4.9% to US$352b and 3.1% to US$363b in 2015 and 2016, respectively, for all product categories and regions. . In the longer-term, IDC forecasts a CAGR of 3.1% from 2014 to 2019, reaching US$389b in 2019. On these data, we have reasons to believe the industry outlook remains positive over the next few years on moderate growth projections. As we think VMS has more room to grow in its TMO segment, our current assumptions forecast for 10.2% and 9.2% growth in FY15 and FY16 PATMI, respectively. Consequently, our FV remains unchanged at S$8.41. But given that the share price has increased steadily to S$8.53, we downgrade VMS to HOLD on valuation grounds. (Eugene Chua)

Any vested buddies still holding on to this? Assuming full yr net profit of $175mil, at current price, its PE is 15.7 which is above its average. Its expenses increase over the quarters had been higher than its revenue increase, percentage wise. I am tempted to sell some of my holdings.

Maybe we should stop looking at actual ratio when determining buy sell but more like a range and most importantly business fundemental?

Why is 15.7 abv AV. PE ex or cheap? It is super ex if it is going to be loss making but reasonable and perhaps even cheap if it is growing or having some catalysts waiting.

I am currently still vested. I am more of a long term trader, I did sold and buy back, but will not sell till if FY results which I expect to be good.

It has currency movements at its tail wind now, and unless trumps still penalizing companies who outsource, I think Venture wil cope fine.

I am hoping for them to either start buying (a long time since 2007) with its raising cash pile, or raise dividends back to 55 cents.

Currently margin is 1% higher than what Aberdeen is nagging them to maintain at 2013-14. 6 % Gpm, and NP margin margin without tax incentive
