Maybe special dividend or bonus issue to mark 10 year's listing anniversary. Ok I don't know. Have to wait to find out.

Normally dividend or bonus issue comes with full year results. I am not sure about bonus, but any final and special dividend needs to be put to a vote in the AGM.
Aint u actually scared of a "we have a customer complaint that we r going to pay" or "serious discrepancies are found..." ?? (just kidding!!)

To be honest actually I do. Who can be absolutely sure? In life only death and taxes are certain. Having said that, you shouldn't have the mindset of "taining all with the same brush". You are smart person, you know what I am saying. Let just wait for the announcement. I know you are curious what this s chip is up to, too.

It is just a "tongue in cheek" comment As someone who likes to study behavioral finance, I am definitely aware and wary of the biases that cloud our judgement (that system1 and system2 thing). My overall S-chip experience is still "deeply in the red" on the numbers and it actually accounts for majority of my losses but thankfully, i believe it doesn't cloud my judgement to stay neutral to facts and events.

I am pleased with the move. I was tempted to ask the company during AGM couldn't they raise the profile of the company such as brining in institutional investors or some funds and now this happened. This will diminish the unwelcoming s-chip stigma that, in my view, unfairly attached to all s-chip regardless of whether the s-chip is well run or not. As with the norm, such bulk buying entitled the buyers some discounts but to be honest, the discount seems a bit steep for me but I can't do anything about it so just let's forward. With the additional sgd 17 million cash, I think it is likely that the payout be it in the form of normal/special dividend will increase.

why couldn't they sell it at open market at high price instead of giving almost 10% discount, not like hard to find buyers for those shares

Wrote: why couldn't they sell it at open market at high price instead of giving almost 10% discount, not like hard to find buyers for those shares It is not uncommon to do private placement over the open market transaction, to ensure a controlled transaction. The purpose of the sale, according to the press release, is "To increase the liquidity of the Company’s shares, and for future payment of dividends". The free-float is about 35% as of AR 2015, and cash reserve is RMB 276 million (or ~S$56 million), with zero debt, based on FY 2016 report. Isn't retirement of treasury shares also a good reward to shareholders, rather than placement (with dividend later)? |
