Has anyone in this forum brought this up with SGX or any other governing bodies to stagger AGM timings happening on the same day as a suggestion?

I guess it is not possible because the holding of the AGMs are specific to the companies' management. SGX would not have jurisdiction over the companies' policies.

If you are not able to attend all on the same day, attend on which is most important, appoint proxy to attend if other are as important

It is probably too much hassle to impose the restriction on stagging timing e.g. coordination of timing by SGX?

Yes, that's true. The least SGX can do for us is to make it compulsory the posting of minutes and videos of AGM in the company/SGX site.

This is like saying to allow everyone to attend the AGM, even they are not shareholders or invited observers. All information include biz detail are public info?

Will it work?

But SGX has jusridiction over the deadline on when listed companies should hold their AGM. They should extend the deadline by 2 more months or mandate certain companies by allotment to hold their meetings on a weekend.

The current rule is all AGM must be held no later than 4 months after the release of the Final year results

Personally I dun think its possible for AGMs to be staggered. There are hundred of companies listed on SGX and a great majority of them has their FY ending 31 Dec.

Its so typical for companies to wait until the last minute to have their AGM (like the chinese say, stomach ache then look for toilet) and the last week of April are jammed packed with AGMs.

I counted 15 of companies I have shares in having AGMs for the week 23-27Apr. 26 Apr is particularly hot. 5 companies holding their AGMs in the morning.

I agree that SGX should make the minutes of the AGM available. I believe its possible to request for a copy but imagine calling all the companies you own for a copy of the minutes!

I guess it helps in my case to hold just six companies, and three of them have a December 31 year-end while the other three have a March 31 year-end.

So I would be able to attend most of the AGMs, if not all. Big Grin

But I agree that it would be impossible to attend AGMs of all the companies if you hold say 20-30 companies, and all with the same financial year-end.

It is not an issue for me, since i restrict myself to own only 5-6 companies at most at the moment. They are nicely space out and some having different FY

Staying focus does help in this case Tongue

I own very few companies too (however, all FY ending in Dec 31) but unluckily, 26th April is a very hot date.
