Anybody know where I can obtain a complete list of all the S-chips that are currently listed on SGX?

I am already planning on doing a historical performance track on dividend payment - using dividend play to sort of "hedge" the risk of S-chip fraud.

In other words, I am trying to screen out overlapping stocks with supposedly good fundamentals and paying good dividends - so in any case I will be receiving dividend while praying that the S-chip will get re-valued from its low P/E ratings.

Will be good if I can get a list of all the S-chips.

Thanks! Smile

Just go to the SGX website and start from "A". There are only 700+ companies listed on SGX, and about 170 Chinese companies IIRC. Not that hard especially since most S-Chips have obvious names. Shouldn't take more than 15 minutes.

yeah, thought of that too but I am afraid I might miss out on a few.

have dug deeper using google and found a complete list!

for those interested, just go to www.shareinvestor.com > Click on "Prices" > and select category "China"

next, is to hope that bloomberg does offer a historical dividend payment record

anw, thanks for your advice! Smile

I think you will be hard-pressed to find a S Chip which has used a chunk of their profits ie at least 30% to pay a dividend or repurchase shares from open market consistently for at least 3 years (including the recession year). Personally, I would agree with dzwm87 idea that such a generous company if trading at low valuation might be a gem.

The obvious ones are -

1) Yangzijiang - Dividend payout ratio of 30% since listing and repurchased > 200 million shares in 2008/09.
2) CM Pacific - Dividend policy of > 50% of profit, 6 years of semi annual dividends of at least 2 cents.
3) Sunvic - Repurchased and cancelled 10% of the stock float in 2009/10.
4) Cosco Singapore - Dividend payout > 30% for the past 5 years.
5) C&O Pharm - Distributed excess cash via special dividends (Privatized)

Please add more to the list if possible.

Of course, this doesn't mean that they are great companies and instead could have their own set of problems or future challenges. They are not of blue chip caliber either. Perhaps only YZJ comes close judging by its size and its 'conglomerate' potential. But even then, one must study the outlook of its core business over the next few years.

Don't think there is any short cut to the research...have to read through all of them...but over time you will get a feel of their 'generosity' haha !

(Vested in CM Pacific)
