OECD warns Australia to prepare contingency plans for a ‘severe collapse’ in the housing market
Australia is warned to prepare “contingency plans for a severe collapse in the housing market” that could lead to a “crisis situation” in our banks.

STC owns very few housing units after selling most of the units in MPV projects , should be less relevant by now ?

STC has been buying back shares aggresively.

If the stock is really grossly under-valued , why are people selling so aggressively ? STC is as good as the main buyer, if not the sole  buyer .

On the other famous hand, isn't that a blessing in disguise for investors who want to get out?

The buyback provides the exit option to short-term investors and
substantial Volumes for the company to buyback (which arguably should benefit longer term owners in long run).

It was perceived as a deep undervalued stock even before SBB, but it was not reflected in its share price due to drastic cut of dividend . Unless the dividend payout is back to 3 cents , otherwise the selling may not cease . Good for the controlling shareholder only .

The share buybacks have been aggressive , Just can't imagine how the controlling shareholder will behave after they cross the 50% threshold ?

Rainbow  Share buy back for Stamford Land and Singapore Shipping Corp
[Image: MG_5509.jpg]
I feel otherwise.

The money in the company is reserved for aggressive bidding/buying during the up and coming fire sale.

The family has no intention to spend the money in share buy back other than to silence the noise.

At this moment, the Ow's is trying to balance the shareholders grievance vs the company needs to growth.

At some point in time, both Ow will make a decision to stop the buy back
and start focusing on the ultimate GRAND PLAN.

RE: Stamford Land
With their track records , it will be naive to think they will do something not to benefit themselves first .
The father , son and daughter all are ''working '' for both SLC and SSC .
How is it possible to commit their times and energies  in both companies ?
Are they just doing part-time job in both companies ?

If the SBB is not to their advantage , doubt they will do it.
Why now then they do it when many companies already have SBB many  years ago.
One simple reason is with mandate of SBB , they do not have to spend a single cent to have their holding cross the 50% threshold , even after crossing the 50%  they do not need to make a mandatory offer.
If they really have the minority shareholders in mind , they would not have  cut the dividend drastically , from the usual 3 cents to 1/2 or 1 cent when the company was making record profits . They should know this action would depress  the share price , but still can say it in AGM that SBB is for the benefit of the minority and not the controlling shareholder .
They think all minority shareholders are fools ?

The management practically didn't create new revenue stream in the past 8 years , sleep  on the same assets when other new players are ahead of them now. They just wake up and talked about expansion GRAND PLAN . More like they will just continue to milk the company to the maximum while telling shareholders about GRAND PLAN .
