Most likely will go through. Congrats to those vested.
From the UOB attached letter, looks like everyone will get NTA minus legal&liquidity cost....
cool man... NTA is S$1.49 and there are still some arbitration opportunities going on (for those with lots of cash)... evident that the buyer is queueing at big lots vs seller...

Just curious read somewhere about UIS shareholdings in other stocks. I have a question if UIS is to self-liquidate, does it mean they will have to sell their shares in the open market or is it possible that other parties can do a married deal with them?

09,
I'm not sure what's the power/guideline for the liquidator... However, my instinct tells me that as time progress, more and more people will be aware of UIS announcement. more and more people will take a closer look. for those flushed with cash, they might see some arbitration opportunities here. Moral of the stories? UIS share could inch up higher... slowly but steady as the picture gets clearer. <vested>

Need to bear in mind that the valuation of the assets (equity, bonds, etc) are also subject to market movement and is by no mean a fixed value.

Sales of some foreign securities held by UIS may be subject to capital gain taxes imposed by the authorities of the countries concerned.
In addition, I recall that many years ago, arising from uncertainty over the treatment of trading gains, our IRAS introduced a new regime taxing more on sales of more recently-purchased securities with exemption on those that have been held beyond a stipulated period. If these taxes are indeed applicable, and UIS has not provided for such possible taxes as it is impractical to do so, investors may have to factor likely diminution of NTA when UIS liquidates its securities holdings.

Liquidation will take time, and UIS's portfolio is invested over different currencies, asset classes and geography.
there will be transaction costs, forex overheads, and also other admin cost to shutdown UIS properly... EGM, accounts, taxman, adverts notices on closedown etc. and in event of a sudden market downturn, process may even get delay or deferred. liquidation of OCBC's Harimau, DBS's GSI took place some 10 years ago... maybe someone here know of more recent cases for reference. in my view, if can get 90~95% of latest NTA pershr, should just take your money and run !! I'm not vested

UOB still has to get 75% vote at EGM to liquidate. If it fails, can anyone advise whether it makes sense for them to convert UIS to an open end unit trust? They are running out of time to conform to the new standards.
