Could I sum it up by saying that ultimately, one should look at the health of the Company in question to see if dividends can be sustained or even increased? If not, it will be an exercise in futility in trying to predict the price effects upon ex-dividend. This all leads back to investing by closely observing and analyzing the Company in question, of course. This is something which Value Buddies was set up for!
