Certainly so. This was why I applied for it in the first place. Sometimes, the SMS password takes a long time to come. You don't want that if you urgently need to place a trade, particularly when you need to get out of your positions. Also, incoming SMS cost money when you are overseas. However, based on my experience, minimize your funds in the SCB bank account at the time of token application because they will be frozen for about 10 days after the application.
Hi yyt,
Thank you for sharing your experience. Have you started placing trades? Are the execution fast, or at least not noticeably slower than other brokers?
I read on other forums, not all stocks can be bought using SCB platform (something like Saxo). Do you know if this is true?

Nope have not traded on it.
All SG stocks looks tradable though.
Maybe you could provide a counter? I'll look it up.

The 2 free trades offer lasts till 15th July and it they will refund the commission back into your account after the offer month.
Execution's as fast as I can tell... placed an order and monitored the queue via POEMS. Another concern is if SCB's system fail, you won't be able to use another broker to sell your assets i.e no backups.
Couldn't find any flaw with the buy/sell system, and have yet to try the "limit loss" function. Was rather disappointed that they don't have an option to have the same order for a few days. So you'll need to manually enter your order after markets closed to queue the next day.
The watchlists and research functions are quite user unfriendly. So SCB's trading platform is really just for you to buy, sell, maintains a up-to-date data portfolio value. Pretty much a no frills savings account with option to trade "cheaply".

Hi, I have come across a non-tradable counter, Tat Seng Packaging. So it looks like not all counters are tradable.

Hi pianist,
Following your reply, I decided to key in an overnight buy order for Tat Seng Packaging.
But this morning when the market opened, the buy order was rejected. Subsequent buy orders for this counter were also rejected. No reason for the rejection was given.

Hi steven,
I did have ample funds in my securities settlement account when I entered the order.
I did not call the trading hotline, as I had no intention to trade the counter. Was just trying out the platform.
I noticed under their FAQ:
"Which type of securities can I trade / not trade online?
You can trade most securities that are listed on the markets and exchanges that we offer. This includes stocks, exchange traded bonds, preference shares and ETFs."
So it does appear that not all securities are tradable.

Strange... if you don't plan to trade the counter, why enter the buy order?
The order can be entered buy I'm unwilling to test it out, after market opens. I noticed that disclaimer under their FAQ as well, but am assuming that it's just a clause to cover their bums in case something goes wrong with a counter.

Hi piggo,
The counter is under my watchlist. I was just testing to see if it can be traded over SCB platform. What I did was to enter a purchase of 1 lot at a price below the buy queue.
Anyway, I have called up SCB hotline. Will update again when their officer call me back.

[Update]
I've just tested with a buy order for the counter and was successful. The problem I encountered previously seemed to have been rectified, after my call to SCB.
Any one else encountering problems with the platform should call the hotline 1800 2425333.
