Investing risk is the threat of financial loss when investing in assets such as stocks, bonds, or other financial instruments.

The chart below shows the global interest over the past 5 years for the phrase “Investing risk” based on Google Trends. It is based on the data generated from Google Search queries.

You can see the interest peaking in April 2022 (circled in red). This was the month or so after the start of the Ukraine invasion.

I found it strange this interest far exceeded the search during the Covid-19 pandemic (circled in green).

One possible explanation is that everyone knew that the pandemic was going to investing risks globally and hence less search interest. On the other maybe the impact of the Ukraine invasion was not clear and so people began to do more searches?

What do you think? If nothing else it demonstrates that it is hard to read market sentiments.

My question was why are there more interests in investing risk due to the Ukraine invasion that when we had Covid-19? I see risk = fear and I am looking for opportunities to enter the stock market when there is greatest fear. So I look at risk interest as one proxy.
