straits times did run a story few years ago on AGM lunches. Actually quite a lot of retirees buy 1 lot like buy a ticket to attend agm meetings for the lunch buffets. Story highlighted that such events are really a meal ticket for some for others it's just typical singaporean kiasu mentality. It sound like these typical kiasu singaporean are "gian png" or cheapskate but consider many rich people in the world also buy just 1 share of berkshire to attend free lunch too
