xis's statement that the PM has a tax free salary is not correct lah.

Anyway, I can think of 2 other persons with potentially more generous salaries and better quality of life.

1. S R Nathan. Should have collected around $30-$40 million over his ten year "appointment" period. Did not have to face any ballot, i.e. not much stress and a lot of sight-seeing and entertainment.

2. Kwa Chong Seng. He is the cousin of Kwa Geok Choo. I have no idea what his actual salary is. He is deputy chairman in Temasek Holdings, and is on the boards of Public Service Commission, DBS, NOL, ST Engineering, etc...

Let me share an experience. Some years ago, i attended a meeting which involve upper management and CEO advisers. One "Encik" seems the focus of the meeting, and talked a lot. IMO, the talks were nonsense, but all including CEO listened.

Later after the meeting, I found that the "Encik" is an adviser to CEO, and an important person to the company with his social networks and connections.

A person is paid not only on his/her effort, but also the "value" as what he/she is, which has been built-up years back.
