I feel that investing in s-chips are not for me.
Even if I find one good s-chip, if the counter drops 10% or more, I am not sure the company has issues.
If it goes up, I am not sure what price to sell as FA cannot fully trust.
One will likely pick few bad s-chips before hit 1 good one.
Hence it will affect your investment return rate, e.g. you buy 4 s-chips, one big win but cannot cover 3 other medium losses.

s-chips is only for punting or use chart to trade.

I only wish I knew about this forum and read the threads about S-chips one year ago; my own screener showed "cheap" counters then, which I bought into and lost money big time on Eratat (lost everything), Dukang and Ying Li, just to name a few. I am still vested on SFGI but managed to extricate most of my investment as it was going nowhere; still in negative territory waiting for the hope of Garden Fresh spin-off which I'm not sure will ever bring up the price. My only two S-chips (recommended by VB on this forum which I heeded) that are in positive territory so far have been Straco (debatable whether to call it S-chip since major shareholder is a Singaporean) and CMHP. Having been bitten blue-black so many times, it would take a lot for me to go into another S-chip. Be warned - not easy to make money on S-chips and chances of losing money are quite high.

I was lucky to not be burn hard by s-chip. Used to be vested in qingmei, china paper, eratat.. But all manage to get out in time, some with slight lost, some with slight profits.
Agree with ts that sunsine is still one of the s-chip which I think is undervalued and somewhat trustable. The big and really trustable s-chip pay out peanuts dividend (e.g yanlord). The 1 that pay out respectable dividend like doing Yari all the time. (e.g pacific Andes). And most of them do not care about their share price at all. -_-". Maybe some buddies can point out another s-chip (other than cmhp) that consistently (more than 5 years) pay out 6+% div without rights issue, I would certainly be interested. Closest I can find are maybe yzj and china sunsine.
All the above are just my opinions.

S-chip in my watchlist
China sunsine
Heeton
Cmhp

Slightly off topic but I thought slightly ironic that the topic of the forum read as

"S-Chips that have values"

Honestly, I would simply avoid nearly every S Chip. It is not worth the risk. So I won't be combing the entire S Chip universe for bargains.

Hi Nick,

Which category do you think CMP fall into then? CMP is worth your effort digging since you have done so much work on it.

I stumbled upon CMP by looking for an infrastructure play after being disillusioned with the over-leveraged and under-invested business trust model. Never found it by deep diving the S Chip universe for a bargain. Almost got burnt by China Milk many years ago when I was starting out.

I reckon Straco isn't regarded as S-Chip by you, right?
