Tks for responding.
Good thoughts to all your replies.
Loss more than profits.. So just decided to put $$ in blue chips and sleep soundly.
Not sure about this right issue thinggi, when bank issue rights, does mother share drop? Or should we wait for this rights issue to surface first, then buy?
What would seasoned investors normally do? Tks

Excellent!
Mr Hill,
I thought newborn has a good point.
you see, the stock market had been in bull for past 5 years (at least).
if you're making more losses than profits, what does that mean?
everyone situation is unique, and so do you.
I will take newborn suggestion and do something better with my $$ vs put into stock market. (erh, my hint strong enough?)
Call me and we can go for a tea/coffee break.

I believe most of us here started investing by losing money first unless one is blessed with having an educated investor parent to guide them.
Hill, i suggest you figure out what went wrong and read up on more value investing books. If still fail, i think Chialc suggestion is for you to buy property from him.

WB:-
1) Rule # 1, do not lose money.
2) Rule # 2, refer to # 1.
3) Not until you can manage your emotions, you can manage your money.
Truism of Investments.
A) Buying a security is buying RISK not Return
B) You can control RISK (to a certain level, hopefully only.) But definitely not the outcome of the Return.

Please don't ever think any company can never closed shop. And if you happen to buy BLUE CHIP at the peak of the market, it may take you some years to make some reasonable profit (when you want to sell).
if i ever think a company will never ,ever closes shop, i will put all my money on that company. It makes my investing life so, so much easy.
Only in my dream, i can find one.

#1. I always think that every1 is unique. I do not want to give advise because I will not have enough details/profile of the value buddy to be able to give him some meaningful advise.
I can only give him/her my thinking process.
If it make sense to him/her then the discussion can go on with me understanding more before sharing my view.
Otherwise, just take my thinking process as something for your info and not to follow blindly. (that's my intention)
#2. market is craving for new meat to take part (as one of our senior value buddy described the 68k new CDP holder).
these new CDP holder can choose not to participate in the market and neither SGX nor BB can take their hard-earn $$$.
The only possibility to get them is to make them participate in the market.
Once they are in, then they will be subjected to news and rumors and will be eaten sooner or later.
If I had not been profitable in recent years, something is seriously wrong.
(you frequently see newbies blogging about their 2x begger or their stocks go up 30% in few months, is a testimony of how bullish is the current market)
I think that if one is not able to make a profits in past few years, something is seriously wrong.
Instead of continue to participate in the market, I will definitely stay out for a good while.
Besides, there are better way to spend the money (eg Europe holiday) than lost it to the market.
100% more satisfying - guarantee!
#3. Staying out of the market is to prevent people from taking away my money. Buying securities is actually buying risks (T reminded)

NTL,
I must repeat that I am a strong believer that everyone is unique and they have different financial and risks profile.
So, instead of advising or give general advise, I prefers to share my thinking process for your info:
#1. Is this a good time to enter the property market?
#2. Any great deal to recommend?
Ok, I change my mind.
I am not going to share my thinking process but tell you a story.
You digest and let me know what's the moral of the story?
Again, call me and we will have a good coffee or tea together.

Once I set up a surprise for my girlfriend.
In my kitchen, I'm busy preparing diner and she is stilling comfortably in the living room.
"Dear, I had a present for you. It's hide in the living room."
My gf got excited and start to search for the present.
After a while, she found the present and called out to me: "Thank your!"
While I am setting the table, I look at the present she found and says:
"Dear, actually I had a double surprise for you, there is another present in the living room. Try to find it, if you can."
That fires her up a little bit and quickly, she do the searching again.
"Got it!", she dashed to the dinning room and show me proudly.
After we had our meal, while having deserts, I say,
"Tell you what, I actually have a present for you in the dinning area, too".
Just look at her smile when she found the present.
Of course, next one will be in the ....... (fill in your imagination).

So, what do you think?
