I also want to borrow the phrase that made Tin Pei Ling famous - "I don't know what to say". Why don't someone ask him to post what he wrote on our Manpower Minister facebook for clarification.

We already know that there are people around preying on our elderly as can be seen around Toa Payoh and chinatown. Reason? Their CPF. Stories abound about how our elderly are cheated of their CPF through the promise of love. People wasting their money at the casinos.

Not saying that government should be rigid and allow someone to starve while having large balances in cpf but it should really be case by case evaluation and not opening the floodgate.

That said, all those complaining about the govt here, have you done a single day of voluntary community service to the needy? I believe not, cos if you have, you'll know that there are numerous help lines around like monthly food ration and monetary payouts from govt or other welfare organisation for those who meet the critera.

Hiding behind a computer screen and complain is easy. Why don't you spend the time to volunteer your service and really see the real world out there?

I dont get what the guy is saying. The contributions made by your employer to your CPF account is still your money (part of your wages). The interest you get from the govt is your money as well because CPF board is using your money to "buy IOU" from the govt

Anyway a question on wage contribution to CPF here. We contribute 20% of our gross pay and employee contribute another 16%. What's the difference between this and:
A) Our gross pay is 80% and employers contribute 36%
B) Our gross pay is 116% and we contributes 36%

I have never heard of people discussing interest return on the tax they paid to the State. What kind of tax pays you back the principal with interest?

No CPF. But gov implement food stamps, higher housing subsidy and higher medical subsidy EQUALLY for all. ;P

yah people can say government provided help gave her food rations for her daily necessities but what she needed was healthcare help was misdirected?

If you read the details properly, she was on public assistance, she did not have to work, but she wanted too.

I just find it disgusting that people can politicize anything , even someone's death. She has been there for a long time, but no one cared except for the lady blogger and a few kind souls, but now she is death, she is been used to politicize a erroneous point.

I think we need to know what was the ongoing discussion before he posted those comments. It was quite an abrupt comment. My guess is that he could be saying what goes into CPF consist of interest and employer contribution, and only merely employee contribution.

Sigh, they do provide her assistance with her medical and Public Assistance scheme does provide cash grant along with consumables as far as I know.

There are many many many assistance schemes for different types of people in different situations.

If you so concerned , you should know these things, before writing these half truths.

Please know the full story before just spill nonsense.

I think she didn't want to accept cash and wanted to be independent and thus sold things that she had no use for that she got from the P.A scheme. that's my guess based on what she has said in these articles.
