My personal take is that European Union will not break up, EURO will continue to exist and the debt crisis will come to an end sooner or later(or maybe ended already). Only in time like this, you can find bargains easily.
I am trying to get some exposure from the rise from ash of the European Union. The first industry I am thinking about is financial industry, especially those in traditional banking business(saving & lending), rather than investment banking business.
I came across Banco Santander, the largest European bank, undoubtedly, a Spanish bank, with great exposure in continental Europe, but with lots of exposure in other matured markets such as US and UK(top 3 in UK) and emerging markets, such as Latin Amercia, namely, Mexico(top 5 in Mexico), Brazil(top 5 in Brazil), Chile & Argentina.
Actually, I am not worried about its exposure to continental Europe, as I am a firm believer of Europe getting out of the mess and growing further. I am more worried about its exposure in emerging market. Its Brazilian business has growing NPLs. There is simply too much hype about emerging market(the in thing now is "MIST(Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea & Turkey)" not "BRICS").
hope to hear more from other forumers.
Banco Santander has risen around 50% from its low and I has not invested into it yet.
