Muhyiddin, 4 others out in Cabinet reshuffle, say sources

KUALA LUMPUR — Mr Najib Razak is to reshuffle his Cabinet this week, dropping five out of the 35-strong slate of ministers, including his deputy, Mr Muhyiddin Yassin, who has been critical of the prime minister's handling of government-owned 1Malaysia Development Berhad's (1MDB) RM42 billion (S$15.1 billion) debts, say sources.

Government sources say apart from Mr Muhyiddin, two other United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) ministers — vice-president and Rural and Regional Development Minister Mohd Shafie Apdal; and Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Minister Hasan Malek — will be dropped in a mid-term review of Mr Najib's Cabinet which took office in 2013 after the prime minister won his own mandate.

Muhyiddin next most popular is Dr M designate to takeover najib, what I read in to how their system basically whoever becomes prime minister their job is to feed all the members of the club and club elite. They do this by having "vision" like the development of multi-billion dollar projects where they carve up and hand out large contracts.

When badawi was PM he say he would stop M policies of the past and focus on agriculture development which was actually good for the people he was one of the rather honest leaders of the bunch but he was heavily criticized by M and soon gone after that.

So whoever feed the most people in the club is the one that usually has the most support.

It doesn't matter what the press say or accuse in the end the vote is from their club who will decide the outcome. I will say najib likely survive this because that 42b fed how many in their club?

The latest news is that the AG, which is spearheading the 4 department task force (AG, BNM, MACC, Police) investigating WSJ's claims has just gotten an earlier retirement due to 'health issues' (more specifically, kidney failure). He was originally scheduled to mandatorily retire in 3months time in Oct this year.

This brings up many questions - (1) Why can't we wait till Oct or even extend his tenure, since he is in charge of the task force, which IMO is the most important investigative team that was formed in the last 20years of Msian history (2) Kidney failure is chronic in future and does not happen overnight. Why now? (3) Where is the health report (not the one that did the medical examination on Anwar's semen samples) that says he is not fit for his job immediately?

It doesn't take someone with an common sense quotient of 180 to answer these questions.

From a perspective of the AG, the burden on the extraordinary task force, or pressure from the most important investigation, may over-stress the already fragile body and mind. He may make the request for the earlier retirement.

The obvious idea everybody has is to retire the old put in someone new loyal to you that don't have old ties to the old system and final outcome of whatever investigation would be favorable or at the very least lead to nowhere.

That why I say all leaders in the world will jealously hang on to their power. They rather everything else burn around them than let go.

but what if you also needed to go against somebody equally powerful as yourself, you can't kill them or blow them up so openly, so only way is find some legal way against them and now having a new AG in your pocket would help plenty later wouldn't it? Big Grin
