Do believe that with the advent of crowdfunding, the rise of "crowdfunding" for stocks could be a reality.

Even without an actual official fund to invest in a company's shares, it will be possible to coordinate a buy up and realisation of value in a stock.

All it takes will be for a significant enough group of investors to share their investment online and for everyone else to agree with their investment ideas and go for it.

Very soon OPMI could become OAMI (outside Active Minority shareholder).

For eg. if enough of us buy up enough stake in a small cap, we could vote Cyclone or Cityfarmer into the BoD and put pressure on management to better utilize cash hoard by bonus div or share buy-back In fact, we may already have enough significant stake added up together in certain small caps to do this. Unfortunately to really "band" together we would need a more transparent platform like facebook or linkedin to coordinate efforts and know each other better.

Something to ponder this goat year
Not many cash rich companies in SGX left now. But in theory could work for overseas markets as well like Japan with more cash rich companies.

Nice Bluekelah, I will love for that to happen, there are a few cash-rich companies with less than 50% shares held by the majority.

Maybe we can further our discussions over some agm like Penguin, Kingsmen or TheHrglass - catering and a venue is in place for us to mingle. It will be nice to meet physically the VB members whom we have interacted so much in this forum

That's why suggested a facebook page for valuebuddies. Not everyone has time to attend AGM to meet and talk. But sure everyone has time to login facebook and contribute to a vote of vesting in a company.

Penguin and Kingsmen do have some ~30% net cash to benefit OPMI but market cap already too high. THG has no cash hoard at all, not sure how OPMI could make it better.

Was thinking more something like Avi-tech with 24m( 70% Mcap net cash ) and 0.09c share price with 30m market cap. 200 valuebuddies each contributing 50k to purchase share total $10m vested should get at least 25% of ownership giving some space for market cap run up to 40m as buy-in occurs. 17m could then be returned to shareholders rather than locked up in FD so in effect getting 25% ownership and spending only 6m or 30k each person.

Something to think about for this CNY

Would take the mods to inititate this anyways.
